A God Who Loves Me

gaillovesgodspoetry

A God who loves me,
Despite how I can be.
Who gave me wisdom
To help me see.
Who sent instruction
To rescue me.
To save me from lies
That only deceive.
A God who loves me,
Despite my lack.
He’s willing to give
So I can give back.
He knows my nature,
And still He gives.
He tasted of death
So that I could live.
A God who loves me,
And lets me love Him back.
How grateful I am
For that fact.

A Wise, Understanding Family

gaillovesgodspoetry

Wisdom, you are my sister.
God has said we’re family.
I am to trust your words.
I am to trust your whispers.
I am to heed your shoutings.
I am to seek and trust you.

Understanding,
You are my kinswoman.
I am to follow your lead.
I am to trust you to keep me.
I am to accept you as family.
Because in God’s eyes
You are! ❤

Wise understanding,
Oh how I need you,
To keep me from flattery,
To keep me from self destruction,
To keep me from falling into a snare,
Bound for hell.

Lord, I seek. I call on.
And I trust through your faith
In wisdom, understanding.
We are all one family.
Your family.

Adultery Is Sure Jealousy

gaillovesgodspoetry

Surety, you are no friend.
You know my God does not want
Me to entertain you.
You know He warns against you.
You know you’re putting chains on me
If I were to give thought to you,
Or speak on your behalf.
No one can speak for you.
Only God can say,
“Have nothing to do with her.
Plead release from her,
But if she insists the debt be paid,
PAY IT!
BE DONE WITH HER!
THEN LEAVE HER ALONE!”
Jealousy is your friend.
She tries to flatter me.
She tries to convince me that
“He” is worth it too.
After all, a woman’s jealousy is
So much well known that she is
Referred for “her fury.”
No Surety. No Adultery. No Jealousy.
Only God! Only His wisdom!

Discretion, A Mutual Friend

gaillovesgodspoetry

Discretion,
You and I have been friends
Many times over.
I thank God for being our
Mutual Friend.
He is wise to tell me to choose.
He tells me to choose you
Is to choose wisdom.
Thank you for being
A faithful companion.
Thank you for helping me
Keep my mind on Him.
Thank you for helping
To escape my folly.
Thank you for clarifying
What I can and cannot trust.
Thank you for not wanting
To make a mockery of me,
For not shaming me in my own guilt,
As I so rightly deserve.
Thank you for preserving me for Him.
Thank you for teaching me
What’s right.
Thank you for helping me to honor
our Mutual Friend.

Day 37 of 47 for Lent Plan

God, I have been enjoying the bible reading plan You have been walking me through. I’m sorry to be so late getting them on, but with Your help we’ll get them on little by little.
No rush. Just convalescing with You, and following Your lead in sharing with others.
YouVersion (a bible app You have blessed me with)
is doing a plan called 40 Days of Lent.

Day 37 of 47 for Lent PlanTeaching: Serving Others.
Reading: Matthew 5:1-12, Luke 6: 20-26 KJV

Further Study

  • What did Jesus say someone has to do to be a leader?
    minister and serve
  • Jesus gave 2 reasons why He came. What are they?
to minister and to give His life for a ransom

Reflect

  • Worship: write down one attribute of God and worship him for who He is.
    Servant.
  • Prayer: Pray for your immediately family members.
Anthoni, Sandra, Nay, Bobby, Tim, Stephanie, Homey.
  • Remembrance: Think of a time you led someone by serving them. How did they respond to you?
Lord, You bring to mind when I led the kids in Bible Quizzing. I thought I was coming to help substitute for Lisa’s helper. Once there I discovered it was me and Gladys. I then thought I would be her helper. Yet, You, Lord, knew You had brought me to be their coach, and allowed me to lead them for 2 years, I’ll always remember Leah at State competition. What an extraordinary young she is growing up to be. 🙂
They were excited, dedicate, wise, hard workers, with lots of energy, bible knowledge, and bible quizzing experience. We helped each other.
  • Self- Examination: Is it easy for you to serve others even if you are the leader?
I love to help others. I’m horrible with getting there on time, and many acts of service are far from easy. But there are many situations that are a pleasure.

A Kind Act

  • Drop a small amount of money on the ground for someone to find. (Or send it via a mobile app).
    – Lord, This will be hard because of the virus situation. You lead, I will follow.

Day 36 of 47 for Lent Plan

God, I have been enjoying the bible reading plan You have been walking me through. I’m sorry to be so late getting them on, but with Your help we’ll get them on little by little.
No rush. Just convalescing with You, and following Your lead in sharing with others.
YouVersion (a bible app You have blessed me with)
is doing a plan called 40 Days of Lent.

Day 36 of 47 for Lent Plan – Teaching: Solid Foundation
Reading: Matthew 7:24-27 KJV

Further Study

  • Where do wise people build their houses?
    Upon a rock
  • What do you think the rock represents?
    Christ is our Rock.
  • Where do the foolish build their houses?
    Upon sand.

Reflect

  • Worship: Write down one attribute of God and worships Him for who He is.
Foundation. Thank You, Jesus, for being my firm and sure Foundation. The Rock on which I stand. You make me think on “The Solid Rock” and “Rock of Ages.” i love those hymns.
  • Prayer: Pray for the salvation of people in your life who don’t know Jesus.
  • Remembrance: Think about a time you didn’t follow what Jesus taught. How have you learned from that experience.
I was so miserable. Living in confusion, filth, violence, and a largely warped sense of normalcy in our family, in our community, in our world. I DO NOT miss it at all. Thank You for seeing me thought all of that. The most important thing I learned was that I had no clue of just how lost I was. It is a sure reminder of the sure foundation You give to my life. By walking in faith with You, I am free of my false reality. It teaches me to always ask for Your wisdom, Your guidance, and Your help because I cannot trust that I am doing or thinking the right way, or that I am even aware of my ignorance. And I cannot trust the wisdom or knowledge of my soul that does not have their own foundation in You.
  • Self-Examination: Do you find it easy to listen to and follow the teachings of Jesus? Share your thoughts.
    – I wouldn’t say everything is a cake walk, but I pray that I always choose to follow Your teachings, Jesus, regardless of the hardship or unpleasantness that can come to us sometimes. There are many times it the most beautiful and comforting thing to do, even while in the hardship. In the end, I am ALWAYS blessed to follow You, Jesus. And I will follow You anywhere You lead. You make me think on the hymn
” I will follow, I will follow, Jesus.
Anywhere, anywhere, I will follow Him.”
and “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.”

A Kind Act

Write an encouraging letter and mail it to someone.
Lord, I leave this one to You because people are afraid of their mail.

Day 33 of 47 for Lent Plan

God, I have been enjoying the bible reading plan You have been walking me through. I’m sorry to be so late getting them on, but with Your help we’ll get them on little by little.
No rush. Just convalescing with You, and following Your lead in sharing with others.
YouVersion (a bible app You have blessed me with)
is doing a plan called 40 Days of Lent.

Day 33 of 47 for Lent PlanTeaching: The Beatitudes.
Reading: Matthew 5:1-12, Luke 6: 20-26

Further Saturday

  • According to the Beatitudes , what kind of people does God bless?
Poor in spirit, they that mourn, the meek, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, those that are persecuted for His name’s sake.
  • What happens to those who mourn, those who are humble, and those whose heart are pure?
    – Those who mourn will be comforted.
The humble shall inherit the earth.
The pure in heart shall seed God.
  • What should the attitude be of those who are mocked and persecuted? What is their reward?
    – Rejoice and be exceeding glad for they have a great reward in heaven.

Reflect

  • Worship: Write down one attribute of God and praise Him for who He is.
Blesser. Thank You, God, for all Your promises and blessings. You are faithful to Your Holy word!! ❤
  • Prayer: Pray for the people you work or go to school with.
  • Remembrance: Think of a time when you were mocked or persecuted for doing the right thing. Write about that.
    – Lord, You bring to mind when our family used to treat Aunt Mildred (my great-aunt) so horrible. They always taught us to ignore her because they said she was crazy. They would make fun of her and provoke her, but when she left the house (or escaped into the public as they saw it.) They would call the law on her, sometimes having her institutionalized.
Through the years You taught me to treat her with just as much respect as my other elders, and with more kindness, compassion, and patience because of her illness. I thank You for the beautiful relationship You allowed between her and my son. You eventually allowed me to see she could understand… very well. She always asked about Anthoni when she lived in Richmond Hill Nursing Home, and saved candy for him that they would give the residents on holidays and special occasions.
Anthoni and I ended up taking her with us to church whenever we went. Then Gran saw Mildred could behave and enjoy time together, so she started having us get Mildred on Fridays after we got Anthoni from school, go get us all our fish dinners from Long John Silvers, and watch classic movies together. That’s where Anthoni developed a fondness for Bing Crosby.
After Gran died, the family fought over who would take care of Mildred because they assumed there was an insurance policy for whoever took care of her, or some kind of trust fund. When they found out different, they quit fighting over her. She ended up coming to stay with Mom.

After Anthoni graduated, Dad died, and not too short of a time before Charlie died, Mildred had a stroke. While she was in the hospital, the neurologist told Mom they had more advanced imaging that recognizes scars from strokes. They said her imaging had several old scars leading them to believe she had been misdiagnosed years earlier with schizophrenia. They believed Mildred had a serious stroke in her 20s, and that when her husband had her committed for being unable to talk the electric shocks made it worse. Mildred spent the last two years of her life in a palliative health care home.
Yes, I received a lot of persecution, but Mildred was the One who who suffered rejection, persecution, physically cruelty, mental torment, and a life of mockery with her own family being added cruelty. Even mocking her with laughter. Her funeral was such a disgrace. Thank You for allowing me to learn how to rightly see her, and teach my son to do right by her.
  • Self-Examination: Is it easy for you to see the big picture when it comes to times of struggles in your life.? Why or why not.
    – Not always. Sometimes He allows insight, sometimes He remind us He is God and owes me nothing, not even explanations.

A Kind Act

  • Thank a police officer or firefighter for their service to the community.

His Salvation Is My Story

gaillovesgodspoetry

How marvelous are the many things of You.
Wonderful, Counselor, Almighty God.
How grateful I am to be under
Your protective Shepherd’s rod.
Your eye is on every one of Your sheep.
You see the one that goes astray.
You leave the ninety nine
To carry me out of my wayward way.
You hold, You embrace,
You cover me with Your hand.
Thank You, Holy Spirit,
For helping me to understand.
The blood of Jesus cleanses me.
His salvation is my story.
How worthy You are of honor
My ink pens Your glory.

The Clear Illusion

gaillovesgodspoetry

So many miles. So many adventures.
In haste I carried my soul away.
I put pleasure above obedience.
I was the prodigal daughter gone astray.
Moments of foolishness brought tears
That could not cease to fall.
I brought death to my spirit.
I had carelessly forsaken all.
I was certain You no longer cared for me,
Yet You met me with love and open arms.
I returned just to be in Your presence,
Where I knew I’d be safe from harm.
You were so broken to see my crushed spirit,
And wanted to nourish and restore.
Where I thought You liked me less,
You poured out love more and more.
The playfulness of my youth was an illusion,
But now I clearly see…
I don’t need to run to the world
When You’ve always been with me.

Creator Designed

gaillovesgodspoetry

You think I’m too slow
Because I don’t move at your pace,
But my persistence and determination
Often win the race.
When I swim underneath
I’m pretty clever at losing you.
I sink within the mud,
As most sea turtles do.
I am as my Creator designed,
And enjoy His thoughtful care.
He knows just how to lead me,
And goes with me everywhere.
