Day 24 of 47 for Lent Plan

God, I have been enjoying the bible reading plan You have been walking me through. I’m sorry to be so late getting them on, but with Your help we’ll get them on little by little.
No rush. Just convalescing with You, and following Your lead in sharing with others.
YouVersion (a bible app You have blessed me with)
is doing a plan called 40 Days of Lent.

Day 24 of 47 for Lent Plan – “Healing: Man Born Blind”
Reading: John 9:1-34 KJV

Further Study

  • According to John 9:3, what seems to be a common cause for someone having an infirmity like blindness?
    – For God’s purpose, to glorify God.
  • How was the healing different than Jesus merely saying the word?
    – He used mud to put in the blind man’s eyes, and He had spit in that mud.
  • Why were the religious leaders angry that this man was healed?
    – Because Jesus healed Him on the Sabbath.

Reflect

  • Worship: Write down one attribute of God and worship Him for who He is.
    – Interesting. Lord, Your ways are so unique so interesting, often teaching us wisdom if we just ask, listen, and pay attention. Thank You for being free with Your knowledge.
  • Prayer: Pray for your extended family members.
  • Remembrance: John 9:25 is a profound statement, “One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!” Have you ever felt something like this? Fill in your own blanks: I was filth but now I am cleansed.
    – Thank You, God, for it. Thank You, Jesus, for ridding me of filth, cruelty, and ungodly ways and ungodly people. In Your name I pray. Amen.
  • Self-Examination: Think about something great that happened in your life that you just can’t explain. Write about it.
    – Anthoni!! Why You allowed a single teenager who was promiscuous to have a child she had been praying for, and blessed Anthoni and me! I can’t explain except that it was all by Your hand! Answered prayer.

A Kind Act

  • Buy or pick flowers for someone

    1. PTL! I loved the flower idea too. Though it’s hard to give flowers right now, I have not given up. I sent some as cards from Dayspring, and in one of the Verse of the Day in YouVersion.
Me and God love you, Maxine! ❤

  1. I am a product of His abundant grace who loves to read, listen to those who give God the glory in all they do. We are living in a unique time and have to think outside the box when it comes to giving of anything. I don’t really celebrate Lent, but love the idea of it and need to learn more about the process. I pour myself into celebrating Jesus life on earth, His death on earth, His resurrection on earth and now celebrate Him preparing a home for me in heaven. Blessings.

    1. PTL, Betty! You are absolutely a product of His abundance grace! ❤
Lent is a time for preparing for Easter by thinking on our relationship with God, our sins, praying, and repenting. Most people who take part in Lent giving up something in honor of what He gave up in heaven for us, and then suffered so miserable in His persecution and death. Fasting is the most common. I don't always take part, especially since in trying different fasting in the past led to problems because of health issues and being on medications.
However since learning the last few years that the concept of Lent and fasting are both relating to giving up something for Christ and/or giving of ourselves in disciplines, such as I may not be able to go without foods and drink, but I can drink only water all 40 days (oh yeah it begins 40 days before Easter and end on the Sabbath day before Easter). Or maybe set a certain hour or certain time each day to specifically stop and pray. Maybe give up all music to focus on singing and learning only hymns. The main purpose is to take that time and give it to Christ on a personal level, without drawing attention to ourselves. It's a personal thing between us and God.
This year after praying to see God wanted me to even take part, I gave up all meat except Fish (since Jesus ate fish and is everyone during lent as a menu option, and my doctor's are always pushing to eat it), and to drink only light colored caffeine free sodas as much as possible. I drank mostly water and Gatorade. I also did this 47 Day Lent Plan through YouVersion that included 7 days of preparing for Lent. I din't start getting on my blog til around Day 33, but I am trying to be faithful to finish. I like bible studies/journals/plans that ask questions to make you think.
It is all very much just as you said… pouring yourself into celebrating Jesus and His life on earth.
God loves you very much, Betty! Praying you stay safe and well!
