Day 35 of 47 for Lent Plan

God, I have been enjoying the bible reading plan You have been walking me through. I’m sorry to be so late getting them on, but with Your help we’ll get them on little by little.
No rush. Just convalescing with You, and following Your lead in sharing with others.

YouVersion (a bible app You have blessed me with)
is doing a plan called 40 Days of Lent.

Day 35 of 47 for Lent Plan – Teaching: Mercy & Possessions
Reading: Matthew 6:19-24

Further Study

  • Where should we not store our treasures? Where should we store them? Why?
We should not store our treasures on earth. We should store them in heaven because things on earth are stolen, destroyed, or rot. Things in heaven last forever. Where our treasures are there our hearts will be also.
  • What part of our body’s health affects our entire body?
    our eyes
  • What two things can we not serve? Why?
God and mammon… because we will love one and hate the other. Our heart and mind will be focused on pleasing one while neglecting the other.

Reflect

  • Worship: Write down one attribute of God and worship Him for who He is.
Light… Thank You, God, for being our Light in this world, even in our darkness.
  • Prayer: Pray for yourself – your needs, concerns, desires, dreams.
Lord, how funny that You had this day to pray for myself to fall on the day I have therapy. And whether I get it read before or after the appointment, it is always right for that day. You personally design for me, even when using something thousands of people are doing to celebrate, honor, or study… Lent.
  • Remembrance: Think about a time you chose God over something your flesh desired. Write about it.
Lord, You immediately bring to mind a relationship that went against You despite how everyone thought it was the perfect relationship for me, and even though he and I both wanted it. This very message today confirms yet again the very passage You kept using to make clear then about being unequally yoked together, that light has no part in darkness.
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” – 2 Corinthians 6:14
You helped me learn so well that only One can be your first love. I want You to always be my first love. I know if You wanted me in a relationship that he would want that for me too. I have the best relationship I have ever had in You, Jesus. Finally my heart is content! ❤
  • Self- Examination: Do you find yourself choosing money and possessions over God? Ask God to reveal this to you.
Lord, I am leaving this one to allow You time to answer my asking You to reveal to me which one YOU see. I pray I always do right with that which You trust me with.

A Kind Act

  • Do a favor without expecting anything in return.
Bobby needed his lunch set up that he wanted, with the unsalted crackers he prefers. And also stopped me in the middle of my bible devotion to read a couple of pieces of his mail that he received.

A special thank You, Lord, for allowing me to find a way to put the bible app, emails, and everything on my tablet… especially the Sudoku puzzles! Right now, I am daily trying to keep You first every day in doing the bible study, reading the bible aloud to Bobby each day with a goal to keep going instead of doing individual topical study, still copying Your word down by hand, and then do puzzles that I have such an addiction for. My eyes are so blurry by the time I get to the puzzles. I strain my eyes to play. You were so merciful to give me large print for everything! ❤ How fitting to the devotion. You have given my eyes health and been my Light by choosing You over doing what my flesh desires. It won’t mean anything to anyone else. But it means so much to me! Thank You for being so personal!

❤ I love You, Father!
❤ I love You, Jesus!
❤ I love You, Holy Spirit!

His Salvation Is My Story

gaillovesgodspoetry

How marvelous are the many things of You.
Wonderful, Counselor, Almighty God.
How grateful I am to be under
Your protective Shepherd’s rod.
Your eye is on every one of Your sheep.
You see the one that goes astray.
You leave the ninety nine
To carry me out of my wayward way.
You hold, You embrace,
You cover me with Your hand.
Thank You, Holy Spirit,
For helping me to understand.
The blood of Jesus cleanses me.
His salvation is my story.
How worthy You are of honor
My ink pens Your glory.

The Clear Illusion

gaillovesgodspoetry

So many miles. So many adventures.
In haste I carried my soul away.
I put pleasure above obedience.
I was the prodigal daughter gone astray.
Moments of foolishness brought tears
That could not cease to fall.
I brought death to my spirit.
I had carelessly forsaken all.
I was certain You no longer cared for me,
Yet You met me with love and open arms.
I returned just to be in Your presence,
Where I knew I’d be safe from harm.
You were so broken to see my crushed spirit,
And wanted to nourish and restore.
Where I thought You liked me less,
You poured out love more and more.
The playfulness of my youth was an illusion,
But now I clearly see…
I don’t need to run to the world
When You’ve always been with me.

Creator Designed

gaillovesgodspoetry

You think I’m too slow
Because I don’t move at your pace,
But my persistence and determination
Often win the race.
When I swim underneath
I’m pretty clever at losing you.
I sink within the mud,
As most sea turtles do.
I am as my Creator designed,
And enjoy His thoughtful care.
He knows just how to lead me,
And goes with me everywhere.

Matt’s Questions for Me
1. What is your chronic illness or disability?
Unfortunately there’s more than one, but my fibromyalgia, lymphedema, lipedema, and spinal damage/disease seem to be my worst enemies at the moment.

2. What do you wish people would understand about your chronic illness or disability?
I can be fine one moment then practically bedridden the next day, at least walking the day after, then back to relying on a claw walker just to use the bathroom, and then back to doing well for a day or two. I never know what it will be from moment to moment. But God is still my strength even when I am weak.

3. What helps you to keep going?
The love of God ❤

4. What do you do on down days?
Pray, sing hymns while doing puzzle books or watching TV, write poetry, WordPress, and on really down downs I just lay in the arms of Jesus, trusting in His promises to love me at my weakest.

5. What is your favorite comfort food?
pasta cans… particularly Chef Boy-ar-dee Spaghetti or Lasagna. There’s something about the sauce that is healing and soothing to a sore throat and a queasy tummy.

6. If you binge watch shows, do you prefer Netflix, Hulu or other service?
Our household tends to binge on Roku or PureFlix.

7. How do you feel about your doctors?
I must say first that I am grateful to the Lord for the help He sends me.
My health is complex and complicated. I pray for my doctors, even the ones who are frustrated, or have given up. Praise God for the ones who don’t give up!

Barnabas Award 2.27.2020

“And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.”
– Acts 4:36-37 KJV

Dear, Lord! How Encouraging You are! You are my Consolation! Every day! How blessed I am to be Yours! Thank You for thinking of me and whispering my name to Charity of Confessions and Thoughts of a Reluctant Preacher’s Daughter to nominate me for The Barnabas Award. Bless her and her blog, Lord! ❤

Thank you, Charity, for nominating for The Barnabas Award! Your name is very fitting! You are filled with love for others! I am blessed that you have shared with me! 🙂
May the Lord continue to bless you and your blog! Me and God love you! ❤BARNABAS AWARDHere are the guidelines:

– Thank the person who nominated you and share their blog.
– Think of five bloggers that encourage and inspire you and nominate them.
– List five things about yourself.
– Answer the questions you got asked.
– Lastly, ask your nominees five questions. Why five? Because it is the number that signifies grace.

“You have been chosen for this recognition because of the encouragement and inspiration you bring to your readers.”

5 Things About Me

1. I love my Abba Father! ❤
2. I love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! ❤
3. I love my Holy Comforter! ❤
4. I love God’s Holy Word! ❤
5. I love God’s hymns! ❤

Charity’s Question for Me

1. What inspires the topics you write about on your blog?
The love of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! ❤

2. Who is the person that encourages you the most?
My precious Holy Spirit ❤

3. What Bible verse inspires you the most?
I have so many! I love God’s word! But the one He currently brings to mind is the one above regarding Barnabas because I have been told by so many that I am a Barnabas.

I first did not understand what that meant and was told that it meant I was an Encourager. When I later read God’s word referring to Barnabas as the son of Consolation, that touched me so because many need encouragement and consoling. If the Lord gives me even a small part in encouraging one or consoling one, praise His Holy name! ❤

4. Who was your mentor growing up?
I wasn’t really much of a “hero” kind of child. The closest anyone came to being anything like a mentor to me would have been my granddad who died when I was 8, and then my dad. In my teenage years I had a few teachers who made it a point to mentor me. I am grateful to God for each one!

5. As a blogging community, how can we encourage one another more?
Communicating our love for God!
Communicating God’s love to one another!
Patience and kindness to one another.

  1. Do you know how much God loves you?
  2. What is a fond childhood memory that comes to mind?
