The Virtuous Woman Award 10.3.19

Proverbs 31:1-31 AKJV

The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Lord, my dear Savior and King, How do I ever thank You for  sending me a nomination for an award in regards to such a precious and honorable subject in Your word! The Virtuous Woman is something I used to feel so bad about because I knew I could never live up to all of those requirements. Being the loving Father and King You are, You taught me to read ALL of the chapter. As a single mom of a son, You opened my eyes to a whole new meaning to this chapter.
King Lemuel’s mom is giving her son advice on women to avoid and the kind of woman to seek. The most beautiful part was to realize she was encouraging him to seek a woman who fears the Lord, above women with favor (or popularity), with beauty, and women who are drawn to vanity.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
(verse 30)

That would be the verse You have always have me see in Proverbs 31. It is the summary of the Virtuous Woman because it is not about works, it about fearing You. Verse 31 tells us to let the works YOU have given each of us to be the fruit for our own individual works. It all comes back to You! A woman who is giving her all to You, and sharing that instruction and example of living in faith while reverently fearing the Lord in a love only YOU can give. Thank You for teaching me, Lord! ❤

Thank you, Purple Rose of
CONFESSIONS AND THOUGHTS OF A RELUCTANT PREACHER’S DAUGHTER
for nominating me for The Virtuous Woman Award!
May the Lord continue to bless you and your blog.
God loves you! ❤

NOMINEES:
(a note for nominees, The rule only require you to copy and paste verses 10-31.)

Lene of Wrestling With Faith – Dancing With Jesus
Lene was the first person You brought to mind, Lord. With all that life surely throws at her, she is a loving mom who has a faithful heart for the You. She seeks to be a godly mom and wife with her whole heart. On her other blog Song of Virginity the You lead her to teach others the importance of seeking a godly spouse, and doing it YOUR way.

Wendi of Simply Chronically Ill
Wendi has a meek and humble heart. As the title of her blog says she struggles with chronic illness, but it never diminishes her love for You. Her fruit is evident and sweet. I praise You for her encouragement.

Tosin of Alethea’s Mind
Tosin is a diligent and determined woman in her relationship with her family, with You, and with whatever You give her. I love reading the many ways she see You in her relationship with her daughter, and in so many other ways. I love seeing You in her!

Meredith of My Way Home
Meredith has a wonderful relationship with here daughter Shae of Shae’s Days (aka Bible Blogger Girl of Teen Meet God), and it is a delight to see it is grounded in a faith in You! I enjoy seeing You all over both of their blogs. Meredith is diligently passing on Your instruction.

There were others I wanted to nominate
but their sites say they no longer work or exist.
😦

I pray this tag is a blessing for each of the nominees!
That is what I see in each of you!
God loves you! ❤

      1. The tears were tears of joy, deep joy that could only be expressed in that manner. Joy that the Lord finds me worthy to be called virtuous, and that He would send you to tell me that. I am grateful, Gail. I love you both very much.

        1. PTL! He is so kind to leave us awestruck in the wonder of His love. I too am grateful for His whispering, and leading to quickly obey, and for allowing such sweet fellowship… friendship built in God’s love!

  2. Oh Gail, I am truly and deeply humbled by your nomination……..but, I do not feel worthy. I am not writing this to receive affirmations or praise, I am just not able to accept this. I fail on a continuous basis as a wife and a mother and although I do strive to be better, I am sure it is miserable looking to our Heavenly Father.
But, I am deeply appreciative of you thinking of me, and I am humbled beyond words. Congratulations on your award, and again, thank you Gail. God blessings to you my dear!

    1. Dearest Wendi, I completely understand how you feel. I felt the same! I could NEVER live up to all of those requirements! NO ONE could as much as we praise each other. God KNOWS that. But God reminds me that the “Virtuous Woman” we have all created as a standard is NOT what God was saying in that passage. It is a mother advising her son on women. The description she gives for a woman to seek is not about what she could do. It is all summed up in verse 30 and 31. It’s not a woman favored for all she can do, nor the vanity of beauty and acceptance for the standard. It’s ALL about a woman who fears the Lord! SHE shall be praised. And verse 31 says “Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” Your writing is your own work, a fruit given to you of the Lord. You praise the Lord and talk honestly what’s on your heart. You encourage others! You encourage me! The verse says to let your works praise you! A nomination to your blog is doing just that.
I understand what you mean, and it is totally up to you. I do not meant to push. You and I are so alike in so many way. God is worthy of His praise, even through us! Praying for you! Me and God cherish you! We value you!

      1. Thank you so very much Gail for all of the beautiful words you left for me to read. Your words and the Bible verses lifted my spirit so I thank you. I will absolutely pray about it, but I am deeply thankful and humbled that you feel me worthy of such an award. God bless you my friend…….
