My God loves me and I’m gonna shout it!
He loves me! He loves me! He tells me so!
He sent me a love letter to let me know!
He wrote in a book and wrote it in red.
He’s not ashamed. He wants it said.
In large print, He writes I am His.
He says, “I want you to understand this!
I love you and want you to know you’re mine.
And I’m willing to sign that on the bottom line.
Now get up and go, and share what I’ve given.
So many I love need to know they’re forgiven.
Share the love and share the letter.
Let them know things will get better.”

Extra Hours With You

Extra hours and the pen keeps pouring,
This is too important to be ignoring.
A message from You is just what I need.
I want to be careful to heed.
My listening ears opens my mind.
This message is one of a kind.
Though told me often and very familiar,
I cherish all that is similar.
A love note from my True Love
Sent from our heavenly home above.
Treasured I am by my Savior.
In Him, I have found favor.
Held in the arms of His heart,
Soon we will never again be apart.
Thank You for taking the time
To reassure my troubled mind.
Extra hours spent just being with You.
There’s nothing I’d rather do.

A Safe Embrace

Here I lean, Lord, in Your safe embrace
Wondering why I must leave Your loving presence
When all I want to do is stay… and stay safe.
Life calls us away, but at Your bidding.
You draw us out to this waiting challenge
That will bring us ever closer to You,
As it teaches us strength only hardship can bring.
I never desire to leave Your side,
But You show a deeper part of Your heart
Each time that You welcome me home.
Just when I think Your love is the strongest,
I find that You are stronger than I can imagine.
Thank You for being a love that is good.
I am so grateful for it.
I long for the day when I’ll never leave again.

Your Love Is My Hedge

Lord, I miss so much… so many things I use to physically be able to do. Yet I am reminded I am who You have made me. You know better than me what one thing is connected to another. The world can mean well, especially about things that seem normal or even seem necessary, but for reasons You alone know (but sometimes graciously share) You have removed me from some things or removed some things from me that You deem crucial for my way of thinking. My world has been critical to my way of thinking for years, and at times as if all rolled into one. Just as You drew me out and set me apart to have relationship with me played the most valuable role in helping me to sort out the junk in my head (to even see it was there) from all different sources and voices, and my own flawed thinking… even now to crave or to miss anything allows You to draw me out and set my spirit aside for You and You alone.

If I missed out on something that means so much to me, especially because I believed You were in it, I know You have Your reasons and I am to trust You. My depression may linger heavy, but Your love lingers much heavier. Saturate me in everything about You. Your love is my hedge. I don’t know what You have planned for me to suffer or to celebrate, but as long as I am with You that is ALL that matters. Not all the battles I lose are losses in Your eyes. Sometimes I just need to see it through the way You view it.

Oh glorious day bringing the morning,
Along with joy for those who’ve been mourning,
How welcome you are to troubled hearts
Who need the hope of a brand new start.
Your shining rays of morning light
Shoo away the long cold night,
And warm the soul that needs to know,
“God is with you and loves you so.”
The beautiful hues of your sunrise brings
A song to the little bird and he sings.
His tune lifts my spirit upon his wings.
I’m so delighted to hear it. Hope eternal springs.

Reconciled By Love

From the moment You found me
And introduce me to Your love,
I have been a child of the King
And bound for my home above.
In mercy You reached down to me,
In the depth of my ugly sin.
You opened Your precious vein
And let Your cleansing blood pour in.
Rescued by my Savior,
I find in Your eyes.
You teach me to do good,
And evil to despise.
For by Your death,
We were reconciled.
We were made Holy.
There is no more guile.
For it was life, Your resurrected life
That gave me a choice.
I gladly accept
And lift up my voice.
“Yours! I’m Yours!
And You are mine!
Thank You for being
So loving and kind!”

The ink becomes a word.
A listening ear longs to hear.
The voice makes it heard.
Turn a page.
Lift the pen.
The lonesome heart
Longs to hear again.
There is a book
That never ends,
Because when you finish,
You rebegin.
The soul is filled
With peace within.
This is what happens
When Christ comes in.
Memorize a proverb.
Reread a psalm.
Find such love
In the book of John.
Drop by drop,
His blood was shed.
His message of love
Was written in red.
Pick up the book.
Turn a page or two.
His dying message
Was written for you.

I Was Here

I use to be here.
It was so unsafe.
The voice, the face, the unsafe ways.
These streets were pathways
For souls walking by.
We were a part of those souls.
A part of this place.
But I was a visitor
Who did not know
I was just passing by.
This was my life.
And this life was me.
Yet God emphasizes
WAS!!
God came along and took my hand.
He said, “Someday you’ll understand.”
This was FOR you,
But not ABOUT you.
You are all about me and my will.
You’re journey came through here,
But now you must journey on.
There’s so much more for you to do.
