The Light of His Darkness

gaillovesgodspoetry

God’s perfect timing is meant to encourage us…
As much as it is to show us how lovely God is…
To seek us in our darkness…
To sit with us in our darkness…
And to shine a Light through our darkness.
How peaceful it is when that Light is the darkness…
Manifested as His glory…
And Love for us.
I am not so afraid of the dark…
Nor distressed by sudden fear…
When He is the darkness…
Because I know it is only to become…
The Light in my heart that never leaves.
May you know that Light…
And embrace His darkness.
He loves just being there with you.
Darkness could never keep Him away.

Wordless Roaming Pen

gaillovesgodspoetry

If I let me pen roam the pages,
And pause a time or two,
What would occur?
What would ensue?
Would it be a line, a poem,
A story… long or short?
Would it be a romantic love ballad,
Or a quick retort?
What if the pen and ink
Flowed and flowed,
But the needed words
Just did not show?
What if the pen and ink
Were scarcely there?
Would the missing words
Find anyone to care?
What if the pen, the ink, and even the words
Were at a loss?
Would my sanity
Be the cost?
What if this rambling
That you now are reading
Were attention getters
Who were very misleading?
What if the ink
That flows without
Were whispering words
Trying to shout?
One more line
And I’ll rest the pen.
Is this the beginning
Disguised in the end?

Compassion for Invisible Disability

This post and video from a fellow blogger friend speaks so well on its own that I hate writing anything, but I need you to know I did not write this. Krissy’s video has many statements I have said or thought myself… and more. My own answer when I saw this was An invisible disability is… Cruel! What would yours be? This is a safe place to be honest with your answer. God loves you and knows your heart… and your trials.

Musings of a wounded healer

During invisible disability week I asked our amazing online community to complete the sentence, An invisible disability is…, as part of my ongoing sentence completion project.

Hearing people’s responses and putting them together into this video has really touched my heart personally and professionally. 💚

I think it is something we can all relate to as we become more aware of the different experiences we are all touched by, either directly, through those we love and our communities.

A VIDEO OF OUR ONLINE COMMUNITY REFLECTION:

An invisible disability is…

A list of everybody’s responses:

An invisible disability is very lonely.

An invisible disability is a daily struggle.

An invisible disability is not believed.

An invisible disability is frustrating.

An invisible disability is exhausting. Just because I look OK doesn’t mean I feel OK.

An invisible disability is tiring and not something I can just ‘get over’. It’s my life.

Dominion is His

gaillovesgodspoetry

Great and strong is the LORD
Mighty and powerful is He.
His enemies flee His wrath.
His prodigal children plea.
His strength displays His character.
His character conveys His demand.
His holiness validates
His authority to command.
His vengeance is His pleasure.
His pleasure is to forgive.
Condemnation is His to sentence.
Clemency is His to give.
Pardon is His escape.
Redemption His restoration.
Salvation is His to offer
Because of His resurrection.

Burdened by Flesh

gaillovesgodspoetry

A head hung in shame,
A heart broken just to know
That she has pained her Savior
Or caused any woe.
So much He has done for her,
This she realizes.
She makes no pretense.
She has caused her crisis.
Weighing heavily on her soul
Is the disappointment of her Lord.
She was genuine in confessing her sins,
And intended to do no more.
Yet here is the truth,
that she cannot escape the flesh.
She, like everyone else,
Will sin until her death.
Only His word and His blood
Can forgive and restore.
He walks through life with her
Till she reaches His shore.

Australian Prime Minister’s apology to survivors of childhood abuse

May this help bring some healing, awareness, and make a safe path for those who are yet to be heard, believed, and rescued. Lord, I say a special prayer for those who will never be heard, never believed, or never rescued. May they know they are loved by You!
Thank you for sharing Deborah! God loves you!

Emerging From The Dark Night

The following is the verbatim full transcript of Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s apology to childhood survivors of sexual abuse.   Extremely moving and heart felt.

Repented and Turned

So young and innocent, she has no clue.
What others will teach, she will do.
Right or wrong, pure or filth.
They pass on the pleasure that brings guilt.
No examples to show otherwise.
Everyone is good in their own eyes
The sins are handed down to repeat.
She had not heard of who she’d meet.
Knelt at the altar to wait for someone else,
She is approached and told of a saving help.
Her eyes were opened, her heart broken
To hear of the love and tragedy spoken.
Jesus had came and died for her.
He loved her in spite of her.
Revealing her false innocence and wicked ways,
He teaches truth and the importance to obey.
Falling in love and falling in line,
He lifts her pen and has her write.
It will help her grow. It will help her learn.
She has repented. She has turned.

Pursuit of Faithfulness

Long ago, You and I met.
You pursued my wandering heart.
You saw something in me I didn’t.
Something You saw from the start.
It was You in me,
Yet I had never known Your presence.
You would make Yourself known.
I would fall in love with Your essence.
Growing together along the way,
It was You who was leading me,
Teaching me so much about You
And how You desired for things to be.
More and more Your vision
Would become my very own.
I have never regretted
You melting my heart of stone.
Each day holds something new
To reassure me of my place
Within Your faithful love
And Your tender embrace.

Preventing My Hope In Your Word

I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried:
I hoped in thy word.
Mine eyes prevent the night watches,
that I might meditate in thy word.
– Psalm 119:147-148 AKJV

Lord, I see these words as I am doing my morning devotions with You, and I am puzzled by the thought pf preventing the dawning of the morning or preventing the night watches. As I know it would seem a sad thing to prevent such a beautiful thing as a sunrise, and a scary thing to not have a night watch, I am suddenly aware there must be a misfire in my understanding of the word prevent.

In searching the dictionary, I find there are two time periods to distinguish from which one I am referring to… modern and archaic. If there is anything I have learned from studying Your Holy word it is that we have changed so many of Your definitions and word usage. Sure enough… the modern is the way I know the word prevent. Archaic is the word You intend in this passage.

Definition of prevent

1 archaic
a : to be in readiness for (something, such as an occasion)
b : to meet or satisfy in advance
c : to act ahead of
d : to go or arrive before

2: to deprive of power or hope of acting or succeeding

3 : to keep from happening or existing
steps to prevent war

4 : to hold or keep back : HINDER, STOP —often used with from

Before reading these definitions I had thought to myself, “How could I possibly even think of preventing the dawning of the day? Not only is that robbing myself of something spectacular, but is foolish of me to think a mere human could do such a thing. And preventing the night watches would remove my safety, although only God could allow me safety at all.” Confused by these passages and concerned with what I must not understand, my curiosity and longing to understand You fully in the Sacred word You have left us, I sought to know my error.

After reading these definitions I am empowered by the ability You have given to us to choose to meet the day in advance and to be ready for the night watch so that I can do as the next few words say in that verse… meditate in thy word! By being ready… prepared for the dawning of the day… I can find courage to meet my day and hope in the word that You have given me to meet my day with. By acting ahead of the night by making sure I have light to help my eyes see with, and a locked door to watch for me, I meditate on thy word. I am able to awaken to Your word to start my day with hope, and I am able to allow Your word to be the last thing I meditate on before I lay my head down.

The understanding You have given me, allows me to have confidence in Your word and in Your protection. I am filled with joy and peace.

Thank You for pointing out to me my misgivings with the understanding of Your word. Your messages are so dear to me, as is Your majestic dawning of the day, and the sweet stillness of the night with You and Your Holy Word. Now I am able to share that same wisdom with others and allow them to also read Your promises of meeting the day ahead to find hope in Your word, and to prepare for the night to be able to meditate on Your word. What perfect timing, as we are all looking for hope! ❤ Where else should we expect to find it, but by meditating on the messages You have left us!

A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth:
and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
– Proverbs 15:23 AKJV

Floating Nest

Moanings and groanings,
I hear all around me.
The flock is restless.
Their sighs have found me.
The unknown day
of opening the door
seems so far away
when we’ve found no shore.
Our lingering spirits
threaten to doubt
all that God has promised
to bring us out.
As our prayers are lifted,
a calming arrives.
His Faithful Spirit
lovingly revives.
The flock is comforted
and finds sweet rest
knowing that God provided
this floating nest.

2-6-15 Note to You

Lord God,
Thank You for being so personal,
for always being there for me.
Thank You for being the friend
everyone wishes they had
(and do if they give themselves to You).
Thank You for listening to
my ranting, venting, and complaining.
Thank You for whispering, speaking, and shouting to me.
Thank You for holding me
and emboldening me.
Thank You for helping me
get through each trying day.
And thank You for giving me strength
when it feels like I have none.
Thank You for putting up with
my crying, my whining, and my letting You down.
Thank You for forgiving, restoring, and rebuilding me…
to be faithful, strong, and obedient.
Thank You for loving me,
and for being You!

Your Marvelous Love

From the day we are born,
You call us unto You.
You whisper our name
and say, “I love you.”
You make it clearly known
that You have made us
for Your special purpose,
to glorify the name of Jesus.
Held in Your care,
we come to Your throne.
We marvel at the thought
that You’d make us Your own.
Reassured each moment
of Your unfailing love,
we long to be with You
in our home above.

You Are Hope

Hope is a mainstay…
is so often said.
Yet that is an understatement
to Your Holy Comfort.
Time and time again,
I myself thank You for hope.
That’s because YOU are hope.
Without You I cannot cope!
You are the very breath
that gives us each life.
Though we cannot see it,
it is how we are alive.
You are the faith,
for which the substance of things,
the evidence of things unseen,
are the very core of hope.
You are unseen,
and yet You are our hope…
our only hope…
our glorious hope!
Thank You for hope!
Thank You for YOU!
