Lord, how delightfully fun You are to do things in Your own loving way. I was paying a visit to Jessy of FAB: Faith and Books to let her know I tagged her with a nomination for the This or That Tag, and just after I left the comment I got a reply right back of being nominated for the 3 Day Quote Challenge! So cool! We were tagging each other at the same time! 🙂
The rules for this challenge are:
♣ Thank the person who nominated you.
Thank you, Jessy, for thinking of me with the nomination!
I love how God had that work! 🙂 Me and God love you!
♣ Post a quote for 3 days, and explain why it appeals to you.
♣ Nominate 3 bloggers each day!
Quote for Day 1:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.”
– John 3:16 KJV
This is a very popular verse. So popular that often times it is intentionally skipped over as trivial or because “everybody knows that one.” It was the first verse I ever learned. I was 6 years old, when Mr. Farlow (the church bus worker from the local church where we would visit when at my grandmother’s house) told me that when I could memorize John 3:16 that he would give me a jump rope.
I knew it by heart the next Sunday… or actually knew it by memory.
You see, what my 6 year old mind heard or understood was…
“This person named God… loved this other person named The World… and that He had a Son. Oh… that’s pretty nice of Him.”
That’s it. That’s all I really got out of it for years. There is no mention of the name of Jesus. Oh yes He is being referred to as the only begotten Son, but one has to know that and understand context. You don’t have that understanding just reading the word if you have never seen it. Especially if you have never read the book. And I had no hope of knowing such a big word like begotten at that age. But once I was old enough to understand salvation and read God’s word myself, having a relationship of my own with God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son, I would remember every single word!
❤ So often it has comforted my soul just to know…
❤ ❤ For God so loved the world! ❤ ❤
❤ ❤ That included me! ❤ ❤
My nominees are:
Splendor In Embers
Sara in LaLaLand
Thriving Under Pressure
Please do not feel obligated to participate.
If you do, no rush. Do it when it is a good time for you!
I would love to see what quotes inspire you,
and or what you use to inspire others with.
Thank you again, Jessy! Me and God love you!
Love this! Love ya too!

Hey, Gail, blessings !!
I loved your story of how you learned the Bible verse. Excellent didactic with kids!
And I’ll take as an example and probably use it too. Thank you!

Hi, Carlos! Blessings to you too! PTL! It’s His testimony! I actually keep it in mind and share for those ministering with me because it’s so easy to assume everyone understands. I praise His Holy name for anything He chooses to use!
Praying for yo, and those you minister to and with! God loves you!

When I was a kid and watching some soccer game on TV, I saw a sign, for example: John 3:16
I did not know what it meant, and I were curious.
Only after adulthood and learning to read the Scriptures I came to know.
And as we now understand, this knowledge is important and necessary, teach it as well.
Thanks for posting and blessings, Gail !!

Who showed the plaque was someone who was in the audience of the stadium and knew that it would be filmed and the images would go to the whole world. So, people prepared this card to indicate the number of the verse. I saw it, did not know what it meant and got curious.

🙂 I am so glad includes me! And you! I am so happy to make you smile! 🙂
some people don’t love their children. He seem to be nice if He loved His son. 😉
Thank you for the encouragement! Me and God love you!
