Gift of the Year 2017: Therapy

Lord, you know you are my greatest gift ever, and you gave yourself through your Son Jesus Christ, the love of my life! Yet in praying about this past year, you began overwhelming me with the generous blessings you gifted me with throughout the year. While I am letting you help me get that post together by still taking time to look over everything, you absolutely pointed out my gift of the year… therapy.

When I began therapy 19 months or so ago, I could hardly walk, move my neck,  struggled to lift my legs to get in and out of the car, the tub, or to change clothes. It was so painful to sit, stand, walk, or even lay down, or allow my back to touch anything. I was clinically sleep deprived. I went from hardly ever taking meds to strong meds that were not doing a thing. When I began therapy several hours a week, every week, for the last year and a half, Blake did the hand work to my back and neck that finally allowed blood flow, which allowed my medicines to work, and any shot to have better circulation.

When Dr. Buzz began to do blocks, after the first one I went straight home and fell asleep for the first time in months… yes months… years since I could sleep more than 3 hours… and without pain! I was able to improve on personal hygiene, lay on my back, finally elevate my feet, start attending church more often, and tolerate standing better for singing at least a little bit.

In the last year, I have had more types of therapists than I even knew existed. The number of doctors, therapists, specialists, and procedures were just too much, though I kept a daily record. Between medicines, surgeries or procedures, vigorous therapies, medical tests, medicine changes, all while struggling with memory, concentration, the ability to focus, got the best of me several times. I was told it was metabolic, but I needed (and will probably need for life) the medicines just to function.

If it were not for therapy and blocks, I would be in such a miserable state, IF I were here at all. While I wanted answers and relief, and did whatever was asked of me, I had given up in many ways. I had no energy at all because it was all going into doing simple things… sit, stand, walk, use the bathroom, shower, sleep, dress and undress. I thought I was surely losing the battle, especially since I had many other health issues, and all my doctors could see was weight…. thinking it was all about food and me.

I praise your name for the therapy that helped me not to give up, to better communicate with my doctors, and better understand why my doctors thought such incorrect and negative thoughts, learning to better understand what they were asking of me, and if all else fails not to give up trying so that I can know I did everything asked of me.

My dietician therapists were such a supportive team. How can I thank you, Lord, enough for sending my dietician coach? It makes all the difference in the world to have someone on your side, to believe you, and to help you figure out what’s going wrong, or at least how to better deal with it, without giving up.

Towards the end of the year, I was diagnosed with lymphedema and lipedema. Robbie’s vigorous work with my legs and compression made a vast difference in the health of my legs and feet before I was released to begin work with a whole new team of therapy specialists. The most comforting words I heard from complete medical strangers were, “This is fluid, not weight. This is not something you’ve done. This is something that has happened to you. There has been injury to your lymphatic system. The lipedema is fat, but not the kind of fat YOU have gained or could work off. Again it is not something you have done. It is something that has happened to you.” Even if I’ve learned I will be living with it, I finally have answers, and a TEAM of specialists gifted beyond measure.

Lastly, but certainly not least, that one who has helped to learn to communicate better between my doctors as they asked for has been gifted with patience that has saved me from giving up, saved me from going crazy, and has kept me from flying. Every day is a challenge not to lose those battles, but he completely gets it. I am not going crazy to him. I am simply physically frustrated, exhausted, discouraged, insulted, challenged, belittled, bullied, and anxious about what I cannot control or understand… which is a lot. He helps me to pause, to think it out, to regroup, to communicate, and choose to live.

The best gift of all along the way is the many believers you have brought along my path. Missionaries in the medical field. They are absolutely there! Comforting, healing, encouraging day in and day out. And even nonbelievers… you never go without using people whether they are willing or not, even when they have ill intentions, YOU are always on the throne, making beautiful things work for YOUR good through and to them, as well as to me! That’s so you!

Thank you, God, for all of the souls you have brought my way. I especially pray for my regular doctor (aka G.P. or family doc) as she has been sick enough to have to leave the practice for a few months. She was the one who began this journey with me, and signs whatever permissions she is asked to that allow things to continue. You have used her so much, and now I can do nothing to help her… but YOU CAN! I pray for her, and for each one you gifted me with this year. A greater part of the year, they were the only ones I saw outside of home. Thank you for Anthoni’s heart (and finances) to make sure his mom got to all of her appointments, as much as possible, making me promise not to give up. Thank you for being the Great Physician that you are! NOTHING would be possible without you!

Late Christmas Cards

Lord, I love how I can go to the mailbox the days after Christmas and still be delightfully surprised with Christmas cards. I had an early therapy appointment that had left me so depressed, so I am glad you had me check that box. What a very welcomed greeting of love and encouragement from a dear church family friend.

IMG_20171229_040938

I even had one from my dietician coach (or at least the program), but it was still a pick me up regardless. It made me think on my coach and smile.

IMG_20171229_040840

And a card from a missionary family that I cannot mention by name, nor where they are serving. The fact that they took time out of such busy and dangerous times to send a greeting… just overwhelms me and convicts me in a way I cannot describe.

IMG_20171229_041735

My Spirit had really been crushed at the blow of reality and it’s unrelenting smack in the face. Being suckered punched by life can easily dowse the Christmas Spirit when we allow ourselves to be distracted. Having to accept more and more limitation and changes is a fact of life. My church friend, my dietician team, and my precious missionary friend have their own daily lives. But they picked up a card, wrote my name along with a quick note, sealed it, stamped it, and mailed it.

This may not mean any thing to some people, but it made my day! Feel free to keep’em coming! 🙂 Hear a prayer from my heart to Yours for each one to be safe, blessed, and loved on. Thank you for allowing these cards to arrive in your perfect timing.

Merry Christmas! Happy Birthday, Jesus!

The Christmas Countdown is completed! Merry Christmas! Happy Birthday Jesus!

Just to be able to say that is a gift! While we are still able, we are to tell it to all the world about Jesus coming to set us free! To share His love with a dying and hurting world. ❤

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR JESUS!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU 🙂
GOD LOVES YOU AND SO DO WE! ❤

Happy Birthday, Emmanuel! I’m so glad you came… and are coming again!

Me & God love you!

Merry Christmas to everyone! May you take time to think on your heavenly Father who gave us all such a precious gift in Jesus! He willing sacrificed, allowing His Son to be away from home for 33 years just to make us a part of their family! Joy to the world!

Gifts 2017 #24 Emmanuel (God With Us)

Christmas Countdown: Jesus is such a GIFT!! I could never put into words what Jesus has been to me personally. As I continued to work on my written testimony, I realized through the years that Love Came for Me right before my life had a series of crushes that could have made me so bitter and anti-God, but by the beautiful grace of God… the number one thing Jesus did for me was let me know God is always with me. He made me a heart for Him. And from that moment when I was 8 years old, it has saved me more times than I can count… from myself!

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and cometh down from the Father of lights,
with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

– James 1:17 KJV
This includes Jesus… Emmanuel! ❤

Gifts 2017 #23 Christmas Cards

IMG_20171225_035347

Christmas Countdown: Christmas Cards and notes are a gift! Christmas cards can cheer, encourage, lift a lonely soul, update, inform, or simply send a greeting. Praise the Lord for ones that explain the true meaning of Christ, or simply display the wonder of a Heavenly King coming as a manger baby to save a dying world.
I was blessed to receive 13 greetings… 6 by postal mail, 1 at church, 3 by email, 2 by Facebook Inbox, and one delightful international surprise phone call from my Australian daughter Andi! 🙂

Below are some of the cards. Some cannot be displayed or mentioned of sender or what country they serve as missionaries. But because they can see this post, I want to say, “Thank you! Merry Christmas! Praying for you! Me and God love you!”

I will be using this one to say Merry Christmas to each and every one of you! It’s a picture I took years ago of one I had but lost. I do not remember who sent it, but it is so beautiful! Happy Birthday to that little darling in the manger. ❤ I love you, Jesus!

Gifts 2017 #22 Neighbors

Christmas Countdown: Neighbors are a gift! My stepdad has the most loving, thoughtful, and protective neighbors. They’re always looking out for him, noticing any new vehicle or person, coming to make they are welcome, bringing him foods and make sure he knows he’s welcome in their garden whenever he wants something, and so much more. Yesterday one was sent by his wife to drop off a goodie box! A large goodie box! 🙂 And we’ve already emptied it, and are using it for large stockings my sister has for everyone.

img_20171224_234226633927662.jpg

That large box had 4 little red stockings that read Jesus, Sweetest name I know!

IMG_20171224_234456.jpg

Oh how that melts my heart! ❤ There was a large food bag filled with a party mix, several different food storage containers of homemade sweets and treats, a nice fresh banana bread, and a very large ham! And at the very middle of the box was a Christmas card to Bobby and family, along with a special article. They had thought of all 4 of us in the house. The article was on being ready to tell about Jesus any time, any where, day or night… and then be ready to do it again… as often as possible. Praise God for neighbors!

Liebster Award 12.20.17

Lord, what a nice Christmas gift… to receive… and to share. Thanks to You using Little Miss Bear Paw of Family by Faith, I am blessed to both receive The Liebster Award she has nominated me for, and to share with other bloggers.leibster-award-2Little Miss Bear Paw is a fervent student in Your Word, posting as she reads through each chapter in the Bible within a year. It is challenging enough to read the Bible through in a year, but to sit down and type it word for word, and adding her own notes to help readers understand is very commendable. She is rightly dividing Your word. She is making disciples while being a disciplined student herself. Teaching by example.

Thank you, Little Miss Bear Paw! God loves you! Merry Christmas!
PS. Congrats on your own Liebster!

The rules for the Liebster Award are:
1. Acknowledge the blog that gave it to you and display the award

5. Give these blogs 11 questions to answer.

My questions for you are:
1.What is your favorite blog post that you have written… provide link and why?
God whispered so much to me this year as He led me to blogging publicly, so it’s hard to decide. The first one that came to mind was My Fear of God, but I’m so thankful He helped me get my salvation testimony Me and God down as I have strived to do for quite some time.
2.If you could travel to any time period which one would you go to and why?
Back to just after Jesus was crucified but then resurrected. I want to be there when he is dining with the 2 men who don’t know it’s Him at first. We’d have supper.

Christmas. It celebrates how Love Came for Me in a baby Manger King! ❤ I’m so glad He did! Praise His Holy and Infant Name… Jesus!

Banana Pudding.
5.Do you read? What kinds of books? Which is your favorite?
Yes. The Bible. Bible Studies. library books. The Bible is my favorite!

Spring… sunny, breezy, with windows down, letting the wind blow through my hair, looking at beautiful scenery like the Blue Ridge Parkway! Enjoying God! ❤
8.What is your favorite Christmas memory?
1994. A very busy Christmas serving my local community, raising money and gifts for 50 families with children, and a nursing home full of seniors,
-going to the club with my best friend and more of our friends,
-calling a Santa to come to the house for a private party for my son Anthoni, my best friend’s boy, and our neighborhood children,
-doing a family communion at the church that included family friends,
-getting to house to start opening gifts at midnight to have mess out of the way for Christmas morning,

It was busy, but I loved every minute of it!

Gifts 2017 #21 Prayer Warriors

Christmas Countdown: Prayer Warriors are a gift. They are such a blessing and so encouraging. I have many friends who are in need of prayer and encouragement this Christmas season. Please help me to pray for them.

shian.1Shian is dear to me. She led our bible study, and the Lord used her during a very challenging time of my life. I memorized the entire book of James. I cannot tell you how it helped me through multiple MRIs and other imaging, doctor appointments and procedures, and more. May the Lord return than blessing and encouragement to Shian. Her back fracture led to finding she has cancer (multiple myeloma) in her plasma cells throughout her body. At this point she is continuing chemotherapy and will prepare for a stem cell transplant. This is her with her husband, daughter, and son-in-law.

shian.2

I do not know what God has ahead for Shian, but I know He is a God that can! Heal! Comfort! Just this week Crystal (my friend that you have been helping me to pray for during her chemo treatments this summer to combat her Hodgkin’s lymphoma) found out she is Cancer free! She is a survivor! Praise God!

crystal.1

There are still many others who need us to pray for them, including many of you on WordPress who are dealing with your own struggles. Christmas continues even though someone doesn’t feel well. The year will completely end and a new one begin. We need our prayer warriors… and we need to be one! May God bless you each one who prays. Lord, please be with my friend, Shian and her family. Help Crystal to continue to be well. Be with each one who needs you. Thank you for allowing us to pray for one another.

“Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
– James 5:13-16 KJV

Gifts 2017 #20 Safe Snow

Christmas Countdown: Safe Snow is a gift. I love the feature WordPress has designed to allow us to have snow falling on our blogs. Sometimes I just sit for long periods of time enjoying it, sometimes with music. Have you noticed that if you move your cursor to the left, it snows toward the left? If you move it the right, the snow falls to the right. If you move your cursor back and forth playfully, the snow dances. It’s silly, but so fun. And no one has to worry about slick roads, school closings, accidents, power outages, or getting stuck in anywhere. Thank you, Lord, for sun fun features.

Gifts 2017 #19 Good Thoughts

Christmas Countdown: Good Thoughts are such a GIFT: With so much to distract us and to fight us for our mind (death, anger, bitterness, anxiety, depression… just to name a few), God is so wise to remind us to have good thoughts to help us fight out spiritual warfare.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
– Philippians 4:8 KJV

Gifts 2017 #18 Little Things

Christmas Countdown: Little things are a gift. Sometimes Jesus blesses us with huge blessings that knock our socks off, and sometimes He sends little things. It’s truly the little things He does that I love. He knows I love spaghetti and lasagna! He allowed a restaurant named Cheddar’s to create a dish mixing the two… Spasagna! It’s my favorite dish! Does it get any better???? Jesus loves me this I know!!!! 😉

Gifts 2017 #17 God’s Protection

Christmas Countdown: God’s protection is very much a gift. Whether in terrible storms, the darkest nights, the deepest depressions, the bloodiest wars, or in the hands of the vilest offenders, God is able to protect us from every single one.

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
– Psalm 91:1 KJV
The whole Chapter of Psalm 91 tells of
His loving and mighty protection. ❤

Gifts 2017 #15 Generosity

Christmas Countdown: Generosity is a GIFT: Giving something to someone when you have no obligation to give… is an act of generosity… a gift for the recipient of such an act of kindness. God has allowed me to be on the receiving end of that gift from some very dear people, and sometimes what I have received allowed me to help others as well! God is so amazing to allow us to be and to watch hearts working on His behalf!

Gifts 2017 #14 Surprises

Christmas Countdown: Surprises are a GIFT: While not all surprises are good, there are many that are such a gift, and can lift one’s spirit. The Lord has sent me many surprises, some of which were so delightful, even more so by the element of being completely unexpected! Thank you, Lord, for Your surprises. Please bless those who bless me, especially YOU, Lord!! ❤
