Love Came Nigh

gaillovesgodspoetry

There’s a star up in the sky
Telling me of a love that’s come nigh.
It shines so bright of heavenly glory.
It begins to tell of His story.
Love, peace, and joy… gifts from Father God
Sent to mankind walking earthly sod.
Darkness was choking the life created,
So Love stepped forth and mediated.
Pain, grief, sorrow, and dread
Would be erased when His blood was shed.
But before He would go to Calvary’s tree,
He became the child of the Christmas tree.
New life He was. New life He gave.
He came to reconcile. He came to save.
The Light that led the way that night,
Still leads men to that heavenly Light.

Uncertain Waves

gaillovesgodspoetry

Alone…. You and me… by the sea.
The waves rock me and my already unsteady world.
I know You created this ocean,
And I know You created me.
Yet there is so much I just don’t know.
There are many things about my life
That You knew before I was born
That I would never know or understand.
You’re God… Creator of the Universe.
Giver of life.. including mine.
You owe me nothing.
Despite what the world feels entitled to,
And insists I charge You with.
How generous You are
To allow us to think, feel, and exist.
To have this conversation with You
Is a gift of Your kindness.
Here in this sandy bed
The salty water carries my salty tears
Back to the One who created us both.
Uncertain of life’s current weather,
This alone I surely know.
You are Caretaker of all You create.
None other could…

Realistic Faith

gaillovesgodspoetry

No one is coming. No one can help. No one can take away the pain. No one can cleanse the wound. No one can wipe the tears away. No one can save the day. No one can call in the calvary. No one but the One who hung on Calvary. Only You.
Only You can rescue. Only You can save. Only You can wipe away all tears. Only You can erase pain… forever. Only You can set free the captive. Only You can cleanse the wound. Only You can heal… even the scars. Only You can defeat our enemies. Only You can defeat self.
There is no waiting for a place to belong with You. You have prepared a place for each of us just to be with You. There is no worn out welcome. No one is unwelcomed. All are wanted and loved with You. No one is ever…

Kindness Serves

gaillovesgodspoetry

Serving in kindness,
Kindness serving many.
Sharing your blessings
Provides for plenty.
King David desired
To be kind to others.
He sought to restore, reward,
And do good for another.
Some returned his favor.
Some were cruel and rude.
The result of their future
Was bound in their attitude.
Lord, help me to accept
Your kindness to me,
Even if it might mean
I’m not quite free.
As long as I am Yours,
I want to willing serve.
I do not mind if that means
Being a little reserved.
Thank you for looking out for me,
And providing such care.
I am blessed to call You King,
And enjoy what You share.

Willing

gaillovesgodspoetry

Upon my porch of misery
I lie and wait for death.
My cries for help escape me
With every wasted breath.
Those who hear my pain
Evade, avoid, and ignore.
I am too much trouble,
And they want my reward.
Upon the porch is a pool.
Angels are stirring the waters.
The first one to step in,
It will heal that son or daughter.
God sees them walk all over me.
He sees them pass me by.
He sees that I have given up,
And no longer even try.
Compassion brings Him to my side.
He asks if I want help.
I express my desire for healing,
But cannot carry myself.
He speaks His life into me,
And strengthens my soul.
Because He was willing,
I was made whole.

My Atoning Scapegoat

gaillovesgodspoetry

My Atoning Scapegoat
Has shed His blood for me.
He has cleansed me from sin,
And set me free.
Free to run the wilderness
Never inhabited before.
It is my own place
Prepared by my Lord.
I didn’t deserve this gift.
I deserved what He went through.
No one forced Him.
He wanted to.
It required His purity.
It required His life.
It required His blood,
His suffering and strife.
Yet to Him it was love,
And saving His own.
He did not want me to roam
My wilderness alone.
Slain in obedience
On the Last Atoning Day.
The cross opened the grave,
And prepared the way.
My Scapegoat has risen,
And raised me with Him.
I will live forever
With Him in His kingdom.

My Uplifting Light

gaillovesgodspoetry

Asleep, I walk the earth.
Darkness needing light.
I fumble through the trials
That keep me up at night.
Faint beneath my given load,
I fail to carry through.
The Light of Life lifts me up,
And says “I’ll carry you.”
He shines His Light upon my path,
And tells me He is The Way,
And that His Truth will strengthen me
Because He gave His Life that day.
He laid to rest my burden of self,
And awakened me to stand.
“No matter what I walk you through,
I’ll be holding your hand.”
Oh, Lord, when I can’t see,
Illuminate my sight.
I never want to miss Your whisper
Given for me to write.
The duty of my pen
Has always been Your gift,
But when the ink is heavy,
Only You can lift.
Thank You for Your compassion,
And for sharing Your Father’s word.
I believe and trust

Abandoning the Presence of God

gaillovesgodspoetry

When we move without waiting on God
Because we feel like He’s not with us,
It’s a gross error of judgment
On a God who is faithful and just.
When we justify our own actions,
And move in our own strength,
Not worry about the cost,
And go to any length,
It’s throwing God’s presence back in His face,
And saying He’s not needed.
We glorify our own praises
As obedience heeded.
Yet when God removes His favor,
And removes His presence too,
We suddenly feel so lost,
And don’t know what to do.
We cry out for His presence.
We cry out for His voice.
But we were the ones who abandoned Him.
We made our choice.
Sometimes those choices are permanent,
And cannot be reversed.
We must face the consequences.
We must face the worst.
There will be no God to call on.
There will be no God…

Obedience and Favor

gaillovesgodspoetry

Obedience and Favor go together.
They are key to Your Presence.
You’re either for us or against us.
You have no pretense.
No, I’m not talking about works,
Although You say faith without works is dead.
Obedience is about listening to You,
Then doing as You said.
Your favor can even help us
Do all You ask.
Even in fear, dread, or ignorance,
You are the strength for our task,
But when we fail to ask
If we even should,
Or wait for Your perfect timing
To do what we could.
It is just as disobedient,
As defiantly say NO.
If You are not ready to move,
We simply shouldn’t go.
Your presence is worth waiting on.
Your favor is above all treasure.
Obedience is more than just obeying.
It’s bringing You pleasure.
Keep me obedient, Lord to You.
I long to stay in Your favor.
There is no other…

Betrothed to My Betrothed

gaillovesgodspoetry

Betrothed to the One who pursued,
And betrothed Himself to me.
He has made me His beloved,
And my Beloved and I are we.
He has patiently waited long
For His bride to turn from another,
For His love is the kind of love
Where He will have no other.
How foolish my heart was to be bound
By false hope, false dreams, and false love.
How grateful I am to have found
A Dream Come True in Living Hope from above.
He has cast aside all that was lost
In giving my time away.
Now I abide in His mercy,
And He assures He’s here to stay.
No more do we remember
The before over beautiful now.
I am betrothed to my Betrothed,
And all He does endow.

The Last Sacrifice

gaillovesgodspoetry

The last Blood Sacrifice
To cleanse us from sin,
To reconcile us to God,
And restore us again.
The last Lamb without blemish
To be slain for sacrifice.
No more blood on the altar
After this final price.
The last High Priest
On the last Mercy Seat,
For death’s last victory
Was death’s defeat.
Christ was the last Lamb
To die on the altar.
He saved the sinners,
And stopped the slaughter.
No more pigeons.
No more turtledoves.
No more blood
Because of Love.
The last requirement
Is simply to believe.
The last action
Is simply to receive.

Life After Exodus

gaillovesgodspoetry

Born and bred in Egypt
To foreigners who came to dwell.
I was raised to be a slave,
But was treated very well.
Or so at least I thought,
Until You came for me.
You opened my eyes to my bondage,
And wanted to set me free.
It was a lot to understand.
It was a lot to believe.
You were patient in pursuing,
And helped me to leave.
The exodus was not easy.
My Pharaoh would not let me go.
But the mighty hand of my God
Has delivered me from my foe.
Living in a new life,
You’re teaching me Your ways.
But when the days get hard,
I think on the old days.
Please forgive me when I complain,
And fail to have faith in You.
I’m afraid of what’s ahead,
And Egypt was alI I knew.
The wilderness is scary,
But I’m learning to trust Your…

The Finger of God

gaillovesgodspoetry

The finger of God
Casts out demons,
Writes on the ground,
And gives commandments.
It writes on walls
To warn erring kings,
And heals so many people
Of so many things.
It sends forth lightning,
And shoots out fire,
Burning the bush,
And Elijah’s pyre.
It creates the heavens
To span wide and far,
And wisely ordains
The moon and stars.
It places the spit and mud
Wet in the ear,
And suddenly allows
The deaf to hear.
It makes a plaque
Man cannot imitate,
Troubles the water,
To rehabilitate.
The finger of God
Can do so much.
There’s so much power
In just one touch.

Ancient of Days

gaillovesgodspoetry

The Ancient of Days,
My God, Most High.
The Son of Man,
Your kingdom is nigh.
Your enemies are present,
Enjoying their day,
But the time is coming
They will all pass away.
Only Your kingdom will remain.
Only You will have dominion.
You will rule every hour,
And be praised every minute.
Every nation will serve You,
Every tongue proclaim,
Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior,
Praise His Holy name.
Take heart, o saints of His,
He’s coming on heavenly clouds.
His thousands will be with Him,
And we will be among the crowds.
What greatness He has in store
For servants that serve and obey,
An everlasting kingdom
That will NEVER pass away.

No Enemies In Heaven

gaillovesgodspoetry

Heaven, what a friend you are
To keep our enemies out,
To guard those pearly gates.
No place for fear and doubt.
Peace and godly rest
Are promises God has made.
He is the Sonshine
That will never fade.
He will not allow entrance
To any foe or enemy.
All will be rid of flesh,
Including me.
No more lingering threat.
No more unkind nightmares.
With our new glorified bodies,
No pain or burdens to bear.
We won’t even remember
All that we face now.
In our new haven above
Enemies are just not allowed.
Thank you, heaven, for being
A faithful place to long for.
Whether self or another,
Enemies will be no more.
